Familiar: Arri - it's hard to tell what this toad is thinking, despite not communicating with words it seems highly intelligent, but keeps others at bay with it's flames. Though not always tangible or around all the time Arri becomes excited around fights and when a challenge is presented.

History: As far as he knows, Midas has always been a resident of Tarpaulin. He grew up on the Ghastly Glades near Eerie Labs, where his uncle worked. He never knew what happened to his parents or where they went, his uncle was the only family he had and Midas had been left in his care by his mother since he was a small child. He was a poison type alakazam, obsessed with research, and when Midas was young, took him along to the poison cloaked lab. Midas wasn't bothered at all by the smog and while playing and exploring the lab became fascinated by the science, and wanted to grow up to become one of the researchers. Very bright he studied for years and was tutored by his uncle, but as he grew older and gained fire abilities it became apparent that is was too dangerous for him to be there, at risk he would cause an explosion.

Banned from the lab he started hanging around darker more malevolent kinds of people. While with this bad crowd he got into many fights, enough that he quickly evolved, and he discovered something he hadn't noticed while at the labs... just by touching others he poisoned them. If he got into a fight someone would usually come out poisoned or burned... he couldn't be close to others without this occurring at some point. Eventually people started to avoid him and he started to fear himself... he didn't really want to hurt others, where had he gone wrong to end up at this point? He looked to his uncle for help, but the man had practically abandoned the child for his research.
Midas closed himself off from others at this point and eventually ran away from home, stealing some of his uncle's books and notes.
He moved and lived secluded from others on Mt. Mercury from then on, going down the mountain only when he needed to. He focused on research and took up the hobby of making medicine, and items to counter the effects of his abilities, living with only wild pokemon and his familiar for company.
Recently though he's been going to town more frequently, having received a few gifts from his odd uncle that make it easier to mingle among people... a specially made hoodie is one, designed after his familiar.
He still prefers to be alone though and will retreat back to the mountain when all is said and done.


Personality: While he puts on an angry and mean front, it's actually out of concern for others wellbeing. He considers himself potentially dangerous to others so would rather push others away and seclude himself than put those at risk that could be effected by poison or burns.
He can be kind, even friendly if you can get him to open up some, but when he remembers potential risk to them he leaves...possibly to hide that shy blush. He can actually be an open book when it comes down to his emotions, if you care to pay attention. If not then perhaps all you'll see is a jerk. True to his (re)type he's a real hot head, and when it comes to fights, he loves them. He gets a rush out of battle and sometimes goes too far, especially if you pissed him off.
Really in the end, he hates seeing people injured, and if it's done by him in a rage, will feel responsible and try to help care for them. Despite appearances he's very smart...book wise. Socially he's a bit dumb. He'll make medicine for his victims others but have trouble convoying what's it's for. Though in the end he doesn't expect others to trust him because of this, or even want them to. He just wants them to get better so the burden on his conscious is lifted.

Extra info:
- His hoodie is special, it's made so it doesn't burn and blocks the toxins his skin secretes. He hates being around others without it, fearing for their safety otherwise.
- he's not always covered with flames, just when his emotions (usually anger) go out of control
- Nicotine is his friend. Don't take it away or you might face a fiery wrath. (though it depends on who it is and his mood in the end)
- Romance is out of the question in his mind, he will not touch others if he can help it (battles are an exception), especially if he comes to like someone.
- He reads a lot in his spare time... after all he's usually alone. He tries to be very careful around his books.
